Just like a mirror lined around with stones, when the autumn colours were still just being mixed on a palette and it's gentleness evoked a quiet dissipation. That's how I would describe the scene.
The raised stone banks lead your eye to the middle of bright watersurface then take you farther back to the pale trees and by following their trunks all the way up get you to the opposite shore of the lake.
